Treatment
As our patients attempt to pave the way towards a brighter future free of alcohol and drug use or abuse, HTC Outpatient Services assists by addressing individual needs. Our primary focus is to ensure our clients' receive the highest level of treatment in a safe and secure environment.
|
Individual Outpatient Treatment
|
Since everyone is not a candidate for residential drug rehabilitation, we offer Individual Outpatient Treatment. Similar to residential programs, outpatient treatment focuses on helping individuals to abstain from drug and alcohol usage for the rest of their lives.
We set long-term attainable goals for our clients. These goals are achieved in a variety of ways within the outpatient treatment model. We gear the outpatient treatment towards each client's needs. For example, some clients' require a regular weekly session based on educational or counseling programs; while others require a shorter treatment which may last for 30 minutes per session a few times a week. And yet some may require a full day of treatment several times a week.
|
Please note: Our all day treatment program is more intense and appropriate for individuals who need a greater level of care and guidance as they attempt to rehabilitate from substance or alcohol use and or abuse.
Although there are differences between residential and individual outpatient programs, the goal is always the same…to help individuals recover from substance use or abuse – be it drugs or alcohol with the final outcome in mind to re-enter into society as value added citizens who are positive contributors within their communities.

Adult Groups: Treatment Readiness
|
When individuals enter treatment for substance abuse, there is a likelihood they may not be mentally prepared for the changes they are about to endure.
When they are not mentally prepared to engage in the treatment process, it becomes a barrier to their success. Therefore, HTC Outpatient Services' Treatment Readiness group is designed to properly prepare individuals for their treatment.
Within this group one of our goals is to assist patients in the thought process as it relates to the motivations governing their decisions when attempting to change their behavior in a more positive manner.
|
In doing so, we utilize several concepts, including cognitive strategies to engage patients in discussions of what motivates them and their behavior.
This group also assists patients in identifying the extent of their substance abuse problem through different self exploration exercises and educational information. Then, we have the group detail what some of their expectations for treatment might be and how to address issues as they arise during the treatment process.
|
Medication Assisted Treatment
|
The primary goal of Medicated Assisted Treatment is to provide monitored medication such as liquid methadone coupled with counseling and rehabilitative services to patients with opiate dependencies.
This treatment is geared towards individuals who have been addicted to some type of opiates such as: Vicodin, Oxycontin and Heroin or some other equally as addictive opiate for at least one year.
We closely monitor patients with a well-trained and compassionate medical and clinical staff. Recognizing this is a comprehensive program based in an outpatient setting we have taken the extra mile to ensure the safety of our patients.
Our facility is state-of-art and fully equipped to assist patients in developing the necessary skills to recover while utilizing methadone to address their physical needs as it relates to their body's dependency on opiates.
|
In addition, HTC Outpatient Services' staff seeks to coordinate our treatment services with other agencies where our patients may be receiving further assistance. If at any time, our clinical staff determines a patients' needs are greater; we will refer them to the appropriate community agency/facility where they will receive the proper care.
Our ultimate hope is patients are able to once again become productive citizens of the community, while in some instances re-establishing and maintaining positive relationships with family and friends.

|
HTC Outpatient Treatment Center's Women's Group came about from an increase in requests from our patients to facilitate a women-only substance abuse group.
The Women's Group is housed in a warm and inviting environment conducive to learning, sharing and relating to one another as fellow women in treatment.
The group is central to women-specific topics; the core of the agenda, discussions and the subject matters covered vary depending on the groups' needs and interests.
|
A sampling of group topics include:
> Journaling: Women in Treatment/Addiction
> Developing a Personal Strategic Plan
> Relationships and the roles women play in their development
In this group, the approach is to address the entire woman: her addictions, relationships to family, others and society and her mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment
|
HTC Outpatient Services utilizes the Matrix Model IOP method initially developed in the 1980's by the Matrix Institute and is still highly regarded as the preferred method for people with stimulant use disorders today.
Through our research we have determined the approach developed by the Matrix Institute and later adopted by the Knowledge Application Program of the Center for Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration as the best and most efficient method when treating stimulant use disorders.
Our meetings for the Adult IOP groups meet on the following days: Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Each session is 3 hours long over a 6 week timeframe.
|
Clients participate in intensive outpatient treatment sessions each week, comprised of the following counseling and support sessions:
> Early Recovery Skills Group Sessions
> Individual/Conjoint Sessions
> Relapse Prevention Group Sessions
> Family Education Group Sessions

We have found individuals with longstanding substance abuse problems have not properly developed important everyday life-skills. Therefore, these patients must learn to handle the challenges of everyday life without turning to a substance in order to cope with the situation at hand properly.
It is for the above reason HTC Outpatient Services also focuses on relapse prevention.
Relapse prevention is important for many reasons; one being during these sessions, patients become better equipped with the necessary skills to successfully navigate through the immediate recovery process. Also they are taught lifelong strategies to deal with their issues head on in a productive and positive manner.
|
We emphasis to our patients the importance of identifying their trigger points and teach them to develop coping mechanisms to deal with those situations without using alcohol and/or drugs.
Some of the crucial life-skills we have incorporated into these sessions include: social skills, better decision-making, anger management and stress reduction/management.
HTC Outpatient Services also provides our patients with innovative ideas and we encourage them to incorporate best practices as it relates to engaging in positive social activities which do not involve any use of substances.

Adolescent Groups: Adolescent Cannabis Treatment Series
|
Since the influx of increased Marijuana usage with today's youth - HTC Outpatient Services has designed the Cannabis Youth Treatment Series to effectively address this growing concern.
Based on our research we have found that often times, marijuana usage among teenagers has surpassed alcohol consumption as the substance of choice when our youth start experimenting.
The Adolescent Cannabis Treatment series is comprised of two sessions: the first is a Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET) and the second series consists of three group sessions of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
Our MET sessions focus on motivators to ultimately encourage our patients to change their destructive behavior into a more positive and constructive behaviorism. During these individual sessions, the counselor is also developing a rapport with the patients; while simultaneously addressing their goals for success throughout this process.
|
During the CBT sessions, patients learn coping mechanisms to address their problems in a more positive and constructive manner free of marijuana or alcohol. A primary focal point throughout the group sessions is educating the teens about the negative effects associated with marijuana and/or alcohol usage. We also address the importance of recognizing their triggers related to smoking marijuana and/or drinking. Lastly, we role play and provide additional techniques to practice their resistance skills.
|
|
In this group, we emphasize relapse prevention, prolonged recovery and addiction awareness education. The Discovery Group is a series of 10 sessions ranging from 1.5 to 2 hours of psycho-educational and experiential training meetings.
The core sessions are delivered in group settings. We provide relaxation exercises, role playing, discussions and workbook exercises.
Our psycho-educational sessions cover topics ranging from drug education, relapse prevention, self-help groups and sexually transmitted diseases.
|
Our experientially based or interactive sessions are designed to enhance the clients' level of functioning in certain key life areas often neglected with prolonged drug use. These sessions include a large amount of role playing with time to actively process personal issues and learn how to cope with everyday stressors.
|
Adolescent Life Skills Group
|
During the Adolescent Life Skills Group sessions we educate participants about the facts on alcohol and drug consumption. Providing accurate information to our youth is not only necessary but it strengthens the argument about making a positive lifestyle change.
HTC Outpatient Services utilizes the Matrix Model on the Teens Education Group Curriculum. This model is based on motivational interviewing and it assists us with developing a balance between focusing on the treatment and incorporating pertinent life-skills necessary to minimize turning to alcohol or drugs as a coping mechanism.
|
We have found this group setting to be a great way for our young patients to be amongst their peers to discuss commonalities, develop positive life-skills and to strengthen their resistance.
